About this Project
Share your love, appreciation, kindness and friendship with others by giving them a special handmade paper heart basket for a Valentine's Day, a wedding or birthday, or even a "just because" present. Coloring book pages give this project an extra personalized touch!
Make one, then share it with us: #ACMooreInspired.
1If you are going to color in some of the coloring book's page, do so now. Or leave the page as is -- it's up to you! Then, fold the two pieces of different-colored construction paper, as well as the coloring book page, in half lengthwise.
2Each half of the basket measures 2-1/4" wide and has three strips for weaving.Measure and cut strips that measure 3/4" wide x 2-1/2" high and cut all halves from step 1. (It's OK if you need to make light pencil marks to do this -- just remember to erase your pencil marks when you are done cutting.)
3Turn your coloring book sheets so the printed side is visible. Select two halves of paper, and turn the folded edges away from you. Turn each half at an angle. Take a Red and coloring book strip and weave them; then the Red strip goes through the inside middle coloring book strip, and finally, the Red strip goes around the outside of the coloring book strip. (As you are working, slide the woven strips towards the top of the cut strips to make more room for the next strip to be woven).
4Weave additional strips in, each in an alternate pattern than the one you did previously. You should be able to open your basket when performing steps 3 & 4 correctly. If you need to re-weave, gently pull the strips until they come loose.
5Gently hold the two halves together. Round the square edges with scissors to create a heart shape. Make extra strips of paper for a handle and secure it to the heart with glue.
