    GAUGE
    Pattern in photo created with size H-8 (5 mm) crochet hook and a large-eyed blunt needle.
    3 pattern reps = about 4 1/2 in. (11.5 cm); 8 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm).
    Note: One pattern rep consists of one 4-dc group and the following ch-2 sp.

    NOTES
    - Cowl is made in one piece, worked back and forth in rows.
    - Short ends of the piece are sewn together to make a ring.

    Ch 32.
    Row 1: Dc in 8th ch from hook (7 skipped ch count as dc, ch 2, sk next 2 ch), dc in next 3 ch, *ch 2, sk next 2 ch, dc in next 4 ch; rep from * to last 3 ch, ch 2, sk next 2 ch, dc in last ch – you will have 4 pattern reps in this row (the additional ch-sp and sts at the beg and end of the row count as about 1/2 more rep, for a total of about 4 1/2 reps)
    Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, sk first st, *2 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in next st, ch 2, sk next 2 sts, dc in next st; rep from * to beg ch-sp, 2 dc in beg ch-sp, dc in 5th ch of beg ch – Five 4-dc groups and 4 ch-2 sps.
