Finished Circumference About 20 in. (51 cm), will stretch to fit a range of sizes
Pattern in photo created with size H-8 (5 mm) crochet hook and a large-eyed blunt needle.
5 (sc, 2 dc) groups = about 4 in. (10 cm).
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
dc2tog (dc 2 sts together) (Yarn over, insert hook in next st and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops) twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook – 1 st decreased.
- Hat is worked in one piece in joined and turned rnds.
- If you find it difficult to join the beg ch into a ring without twisting the ch, Rnd 1 can be worked as a row, then joined into a rnd, as follows: Leaving a long beg tail, ch 77, 2 dc in 3rd ch from hook (2 skipped ch does not count as a st), *sk next 2 ch, (sc, 2 dc) in next ch; rep from * to last 2 ch, sk last 2 ch, taking care not to twist row, sc in same ch as first 2 dc; join with sl st in top of beg ch-2 – you will have 25 (sc, 2 dc) groups in this row/rnd. Use beg tail to sew gap at base of first row closed. Proceed to Rnd 2.
- For those who find a visual helpful, we've included a stitch diagram.
