  • 1
Cut bottom surface of the pumpkin off with a carving knife. This will be the opening to insert the lights.
  • 2
Starting with the darkest color paint, cover most of the pumpkin with large stencil sponge pouncer. Next, use the same pouncer to apply the purple. TIP: Make sure to dab out the excess paint on brush. Fill in the more faded areas and lighter around the dense areas. Then, switch over to the small sponge pouncer to apply the brighter colors starting with turquoise. Lastly, using the same sponge pouncer, apply pink.
  • 3
Dip the back of the paint brush into white paint and make dots all over pumpkin. Determine where you want lights to be and paint stars around those spots. TIP: Paint stars big enough to see when light comes through.
  • 4
Using the screwdriver, poke holes through the big stars. TIP: If the hole needs to be bigger, twist the screwdriver to widen.
  • 5
Turn the pumpkin upside down and Insert lights into the holes. Close pumpkin by putting the bottom piece back on with the cord hanging out.
