    Download and print template. Work on one line at a time. After the template stencil has been cut out, cut each individual strip of text separately.

    Add patterns that match the text. For the Plaid Shirts line, paint a plaid pattern on top of the letters.

    Paint banners, leaves, or other elements onto the wood before painting the words on.
  • 4
    When stenciling the text on, layer small amounts of paint onto the wood. This prevents the text from bleeding under the stencil.

    Choose a color palette of 4-5 colors to keep the sign cohesive.
