Work on one line at a time. After the template stencil has been cut out, cut each individual strip of text separately.
Add patterns that match the text. For the Plaid Shirts line, paint a plaid pattern on top of the letters.
Paint banners, leaves, or other elements onto the wood before painting the words on.
When stenciling the text on, layer small amounts of paint onto the wood. This prevents the text from bleeding under the stencil.
Choose a color palette of 4-5 colors to keep the sign cohesive.
