Cut pattern pieces from desired fabric, two main and two lining.
Lay one piece of main fabric onto the zipper, right sides together, matching edges. Pin in place then sew together with a 1/4 seam allowance.
Pin a lining piece to wrong side of zipper (right side of lining should be touching the wrong side of the zipper) matching the edges and main fabric piece. The zipper should be sandwiched between the two pieces of fabric. Stitch again at 1/4 seam allowance. TIP: Sew lining on with the main fabric facing up to follow the previous stitching line.
Use iron to press fabric away from zipper and top stitch at 1/8 seam allowance. TIP: For top stitching increase the stitch length slightly for visual impact.
Repeat with other main and lining panels to other side of zipper, making sure they line up with previous side.
Open zipper but make sure the pull stays 1 inch in from the edge of the fabric. Pin the main panels together, right sides together, and the lining panels, right sides together. Sew around the entire piece with a 1/2 seam allowance, leaving a 3 section open on the lining side. Trim seam allowance and corners.
Turn pouch inside-out through opening in lining. Sew up opening in lining, folding raw edges under.
