Paper Mache Advent Calendar, Two 2'' Wood Blocks, Acrylic Paint in Colors of Your Choice, Cardstock in Colors and Patterns of Your Choice, Ribbon in Colors and Patterns of Your Choice, Various Embellishments, Marker in Color of Your Choice, Pencil, Fabri-Tac, Hot Glue and Gun, Paint Brush, Round Sponge Pouncer

Make your family's countdown to Christmas extra special by putting your own DIY spin on a paper mache advent calendar.

    Print and cut out project template. Use it to trace the snowman shape on the front of the calendar.

    Paint the wood blocks, the snowman, and the calendar's background in desired colors and let dry TIP: Remove the boxes to make painting easier.

    Use the pouncer to create cheeks or other features. Paint in the snowman's eyes, nose, and buttons.

    Remove the top three middle boxes of the calendar. Trace the front of a box on paper three times for the base of the hat, including the rounded opening.

    Cut the pieces out, each should measure roughly 2'' x 1/2''. Apply Mod Podge to stick the paper to the tops of the boxes.

    Glue wood blocks together and secure ribbon around the base of both with Fabri-Tac.

    Add embellishments to the front of the blocks and glue them to the top of the calendar for the top of the hat.

    Using a marker, number each box of the calendar.
