About this Project

It's a sign: You need some new home decor! See how easy it is to create a custom wood sign using a stencil we created with our trusty Cricut machine and tips from the A.C. Moore Craftologists.

  • 1
Sand down the wood and wipe it clean.
  • 2
Apply wood tint to the entire pallet. Wipe off any excess stain and let it dry overnight.
  • 3
Download the template. Print, trace and cut the vinyl or use your Cricut machine to cut. Weed off the background of the vinyl and place transfer tape onto the stencil. Smooth out with the scraper.
  • 4
Place the stencil on the sign and carefully remove the transfer tape.
  • 5
Dab light coats of white chalk paint onto the entire sign, including the stencil. Let it dry overnight.
TIP: dab lightly around smaller details, so the paint won't bleed underneath.
  • 6
Once it's dry, remove the stencil and touch up with white chalk paint, if necessary.
