About this Project

A.C. Moore is proud to support Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. You can join the fight against childhood cancer by hosting your own lemonade sale in your community! Parents and kids can work together to make a decorated stand, sell refreshing drinks and donate the proceeds to ALSF. Visit alexslemonade.org for more information.

Paint Stand: Paint crates as desired or as pictured! Paint the pine piece (which will become the stand's counter) blue. Note: each application of paint must be dry before starting another component of the stand that's dependent on it.

Assemble Stand: Stack the crates two high. Make sure you face at least some of them so that you can easily reach your lemonade supplies. Screw the top crates to the bottom crates with the 3/4 inch screws. Screw the crates side-by-side using 1-1/2 inch screws. Use 1/2 inch screws to ensure the counter stays in place. Place one of the dowels against the side of the stand, along the center of the crates. Mark where the dowel touches the counter with a pencil so you can repeat this for the dowel on the opposite side of the stand. Determine the height of your dowels and mark each one so they are even. Drill two holes in the bottom of each dowel with the spade bit. Hold the dowels against the stand and drill through the holes into the stand. Use bolts and wing nuts to further attach the dowels.

Make Pinwheels: Cut four pieces of 12 inch x 12 inch decorative two-sided cardstock in whatever length you desire. (Ours are 3 inch, 4 inch, and 5 inch.) Use the scoring board to score one side of the decorative two-sided cardstock with the odd numbers. Then turn the cardstock over and score on the even numbers. Score two pieces on one design side and the other two on the opposite side (this will make attaching them together easier). Fold on the scores. Hold each folded section together and cut points toward the front sides. Use tacky glue to adhere all the sections together into a circle. Push the folded circle from the scoring boards together in the center so that it looks like a pinwheel. Use the paper punch to create two circles from contrasting cardstock. Hot glue one circle to the top and one to the back in the center of the pinwheels. Hot glue the pinwheels to the stand.

Create Banner: Use decorative-edged scissors to cut 8 pennants from blue cardstock. Use straight-edge scissors to cut letters from yellow cardstock. Hot glue letters to pennants. Cut a 60 inch piece of jute. Use a 1/4 inch hole punch on each of the pennants, then string the jute through the holes you created in the pennants. Add screw eyes to the top of each dowel. Tie the ends of the banner strand onto each screw eye.
