I am looking for ideas for homemade Christmas Gifts this year. In the past we have given photos, ornaments, and other decor items. In the recent past we relied heavily on Foam Craft Kits. The big kids are sick of making them and the Nanas (although they don't say it out loud) are sick of getting them. I am tired of the same old thing myself. So besides CAKEBALLS what should we make to send for Christmas this year? Dazzle me people!

What about small scrapbooks? Who are the gifts for? Or something they can alter. Like the paint cans, or lunch pails etc... Maybe you can alter a recipe box and fill it with recipes.

My suggestions include all that Joanne mention and I would add altering the wood picture frames, altering the wood letters for intials or words. Words could be dream, inspire, family, names and any others you like. Scrap a family recipe book with favorite family recipes that you have collected. Or have each member of your family tell you their favorite and scrap those. Glass ornaments with paint swirled inside, felt ornaments, flower pot bell are some others I have done in the past.

Thanks, while searching I came across Bath Bombs...I am leaning more towards stuff that will be used up...and not food because everyone I know (including Joanne) has pegged me for making them FAT!

I've never made them, myself. But I've seen them at craft fairs made out of old silverwear (forks, knives and spoons)that have been cut and bent...and then I've seen them made with colored glass bottles...the bottles must have a hole drilled on the bottoms...to run the string through, to hang.

I have several recipes for homemade biscotti, including 2 low fat 1's
also what about hand tied fleece blankets, pillows, and scarves. I make the blankets the size of a twin bed 81 inches.
or what about a personal basket, ex..... my son knows I love to garden, so I get seeds, markers, a book on gardening, also in the basket, he includes stuff for my craft shows. like tags, markers, things like this.....

Thanks, Rett, I've seen the silverware ones myself (thanks for reminding me!) and those are great!
Now, Mrs. Pottz, what are "hand tied fleece blankets, pillows, and scarves?" That sounds intriguing?
I am learning sooooooooo much . . . if only I can get past making it all for myself . . .

happyheart wrote:I would LOVE to make windchimes for my family ~ how? What an incredible idea! My boyfriend has a windchime that is made from old flatware. Someone hammered a couple of spoons, and forks flat, then placed a knife in the center, took a fork flatten out the prongs cruled the ends and hung everything on heavy gage fishing line. It's really cute.

the fleece blankets are very easy, and can be done various ways. Make them into a square for a nice sofa throw, by adding fringe of yarn, or simply by putting 2 same size pieces together and making cuts every inch or so and then tying the two pieces together to make a very warm throw. WHAT are cakeballs????? Sounds like something I would like to try. I recently made windchimes with some kids using a vegetable can, fishing wire, and washers of several sizes. Lots of variations on these......

Oh I've seen those windchimes made from old tableware - they are great! Fun idea, especially if you have campers on your list. They are great hanging from a tree at a campground!
