Your afghan is gorgeous!!! Black & white is my favorite combo (was the colors of my wedding several years ago). The ironic thing is that this would actually make an awesome baby afghan. Researchers are finding that black and white contrast in patterns and designs stimulates a baby's brain development. So this afghan is not only pretty, but it also helps make people smart happy

I love the contrasting colors like that. It's beautiful, thanks for sharing.

That's because when Baby's are just born, they only see in black and white.

Very nice!!!! I like how you did both colors for the edging. Have you ever done a reverse single crochet? I do that alot for edgings.

So pretty! I've not considered black and white as a color combo but I really love your work! Say what you will, this is just beautiful and shows LOTS OF SKILL!

What a wonderful piece of work! We get so caught up in colours that we can forget how good just black and white can be!

Gee! You all make me want to start another one now.
Thanks.
I think after I get through with some Name Cards with the Iris Folding I will just do that.
No telling what colors I'll do this time.
Got to check my stash.
When I get done with the name cards for a formal banquet, I'll try to post one of them.
Stay tune for more details.
:)

I decided to finish up the bright blocks strip blanket for DD's birthday, pulled it out thought I "remembered" the pattern and made 6 strips too long! Each block was 2 rows longer so no just shortening, have to start all over! This is not gonna be done in time for the b-day!

That black and white is stunning. Real attention getting. Perfect for my DD parlor. Her colors are black, grey and white.

A reverse single crochet is worked left to right, instead of right to left. When you get to your last stitch on your project, chain 1, do not turn, put your hook in your last stitch you made, yarn over, pull through, yarn over pull through 2. It's a regular single crochet, except backwards.

Wow! The pictures of your work is great.
I can do Granny Squares and that is it.
Any suggestions for projects with them?
I just finished a lap afghan.

If you can do a granny, you can do a scarf! :) Just have to learn to turn instead of keep going in the round.

SUPER easy! You'll be addicted, too.

I can usually do about 2 scarves a night - tonight my hand hurt so I only got 1.5 done :( (Durned arthritis!)

But scarves are addicting b/c they're so quick and versatile. You can practice various stitches on them, etc. :) I love them!

I will try that.
Does it leave a different look than regular stitching?
I'll try it tonight.

I am working from a pattern from Crochet Today! latest mag. the hat and scarf w/ contrasting colours. It's really simple to make. Just keep in mind that it's sc, dc, sc, dc, etc. I made mine in a deep rose, and I will be stitching on a chocolate brown border. IMPORTANT: It calls for 1 skein of Red Heart Super Sport to make 52" length, you may need 2! Otherwise, this pattern makes lovely, tiny "boxes" in the pattern. Once I get it done fully, I'll post pics!

Here is something I came up with.
A Christmas scraf with pockets on the end, for tissues or whatever.
Using up some scrap yarn.

Nothing fancy but I thought it was cute.

The last picture is actually the pocket.

I've switched gears from scarves (to give my brain a boredom break) -- and am now working on some fingerless gloves that I find to be REALLY fun to make and fantastically comfy to wear. I recomend this pattern to everyone. Easy to follow and depending on the thread you use, this could easily become VERY elegant.

I'm using Caron Eco yarn - (had some issues w/ the yarn in general but not specifically related to this pattern) and find its the perfect medium weight to provide a small amount of warmth to these guys. VERY fun to make and if you can DC, you can do these!
