I rent an apartment, and I am interested in applying fabric to my walls, as you would wallpaper, but using liquid starch in order to remove it without damage when I need to leave. I have read about this quite a bit on hgtv and a couple other websites.
If anyone has used this technique before and can offer advice or tips about the process, it would be appreciated, as I have never tried this before. Does the fabric actually adhere easily? Do I need to hold it in place until it dries? Will the fabric unravel?
Another idea that I'm considering is to use the liquid starch to apply fabric cut-outs. I'm finding stencils that I like, but they have too many segments, and will be difficult to keep together when I apply it to the wall. Any thoughts?

Being a military family we move a LOT and when we lived in housing I did this ALL THE TIME. It does work very well.

You do NOT have to hold it in place until it dries, heavier fabrics may tend to peel off though. I did denim once it was harder than cotton.

It should not unravel.

You can also use this technique for the appliques, been there too!

Good luck. It always looks really cool on HGTV when they do it. I used to love Room by Room, and they did that technique several times.
