Green Roses? Huh?

The reason I like the powdered vanilla is that it doesn't discolor white buttercreme or whipped cream. And when measured out, it is a lot cheaper than buying a 16 oz. bottle and lasts longer. You can mix it right in with your dry ingredients or disolve it in whatever liquid your recipe calls for.

So delicate. You did a wonderful job on those roses. Hope your friend sends you a photo of the cake so you can see the whole thing together.

Obviously the bride doesn't know that there are no green flowers in nature.

People paint the ceiling of their porches green to keep pollinating bugs from building a nest or hive. Have you ever known of a bee pollinating grass? That is a very confused bride.

I don't love the color either, picture it with dark green ribbon on a white buttercream cake...

Thanks Addie, that's high praise coming from you. I am icing the monster now. Not that it is a huge cake it has just been a royal pain in the you know what. I baked it twice today, don't ask. It is finally cooled and the icing is made. Now I just need to calm down and ice the thing and be done.

Ladies,

Sorry to upset you ....but there are green Echinacea flowers, green hellabores, green orchids and even a green rose grown in Ecuador. Ladies Mantle has a yellow green flower also. There are others that can be grown in a backyard garden but none suited for a bouquet and the roses are very hard to find and expensive.

I love the roses you made for this cake.. can't wait to see a pic of the finished cake! Have to make sure you get one once in place and assembled.

Thank you. There may or may not be a completed cake picture. I am not delivering it, and I took it to the person who is "undressed" since they have to drive an hour and a half from here.

They got a cake in a box, roses in another box and ribbon in a baggie.

Gracias Bluu! The groom seemed impressed this morning when I dropped the cake off. He wanted to eat it then and there. Let's hope his bride is equally excited and that he keeps his hands off the cake!

I am positive the bride will love the roses and the cake!!!! Who wouldn't!!!

Maybe they can give you a pic when they cut it, that way you will have one for your portfolio.

Thank you cinnamon. I stand corrected. I don't think I have ever seen any of the flowers you have mentioned. I know for a long time it was said that there are no black flowers in nature. True until the black orchid came along and an almost black iris. I had a neighbor who had a plethora of the irises and she was kind enough to give me a large rizon to plant in my yard. In about two years I had enough to split it and plant them around the perimeter of the front yard. So pretty. but I couldn't help wonder if the bees were confused.

The "cake transporter" called me this evening to say that the cake received "rave reviews" and that the bride was "exceedingly happy" with the whole thing.
