So I have a question. Along with the B&W afghan, I am making a set of six place mats with matching napkins. I am stenciling a large "K" in the middle of the place mat with a ribbon like border in gold paint. I am putting a matching "K" on the corner of the napkin. No border. My son is cutting me six PVC rings one inch wide and I will sand them so that the gold paint will adhere. These will be the napkin rings.

So the question is; What can I put on the rings to enhance them without making them look gaudy and over done?

Addie,

Instead of painting the rings, why not wrap ribbon around them. Get a gold close to the border you are painting. There is fabric paint that you could paint the letter K on the ribbon with also.

I could put her birthstone on it. And they just published a list of the glues that are sold at ACM. It would have to be a strong one so the stone doesn't get knocked off. And I could send her a list of ways she can decorate them for the different holidays. She is not the crafty type, but something simple she would be willing to do. She has a daughter that is challenged and loves to do projects. That would be perfect for her. Now you have my mind on a roll. I will look up Martha Stewart along with other sites, for craft ideas for different holidays, print them out, and include them with the mats and the rest of the gift. THANK YOU!
