Has anyone used those punch needle rug kits? The only place I have found them is at good ol' ACM. I have had a hard time finishing mine--it takes a lot of force to use such a big punch needle. Anyone else tried them with success?
Thanks

I've never tried to make a rug. Sounds like a huge project!

I've never tried the rug kit either but I would really be interested in that...

When I lived in Hawaii, I had a girlfriend that had been very ill. So during recovery, she went out and bought a very large piece of rug canvas and a very large supply of cut yarn in grey, ecru and black. She dumped them in a large box, thoroughly mixed them up and started her latch hook rug. She would just reach in and grab whatever color came out in her hand. By the time she was finished, she had a beautiful tweed looking rug. It was for her foyer and look fantastic. Toward the end, it became very heavy, hot and difficult to work on her lap. I had to admire her tenacity in staying with the project. I think I would have made that, one of my unfinished projects.

I have also done several latch hook rugs, but no punch needle.

Could your punch needle be too big? They do come in different sizes. Maybe ACM has a smaller punch needle that would make it easier for you.

I have seen the punch needle kits, have one somewhere that my MIL gave me years ago. I tried it, but it was a bit bulky for me. Punch needle is not latch hook--using the 3 or 4 inch pcs of yarn--done that too.
