I hear that the Silhouette and Wishblade are virtually the same machine. I have the Silhouette and love it.

DD - So hard to decide... I love the Wishblade, but Silhouette and CraftRobo are just about the same. Cricut looks good too, but the additional cost of cartridges shies me away. Which one????

I remember as a new young bride, I wanted everything and anything that plugged in for the kitchen. Even if I didn't know what it was for. Now I look at all that stuff as just another thing to clean. Less means more. More time for me and less time cleaning.

I have the pazzles. It took me over 2 years to really sit and learn it. Still learning. :) But I love it.

The silhouette, RC, wishblade, froggy, pazzles all pretty much do the same thing. Now they each have a program called Funtime Scrapbook (you can download the lite version, it just won't cut for you). One nice thing is that all their files are interchangeable. You just have to learn how to convert files to your own machines specification.

A friend has bought me a Cricut Expressions. To be honest if I didn't have the Pazz I could see why someone would fall in love with the Cricut. But since I do have the Pazz I'm not impressed. I'm trying to get my friend to keep the cricut for herself. But I think that she believes she'll never use it. She loves her sizzix, and QK.

Can the Silhouette weld words? I'm not sure. The basic software with the WB can't. The create and cut software, for the WB, can.

How wide a paper can it cut?? WB can cut roughly 8.5 X 11.

Can you use clipart and pictures from your computer files? Yes, but you have to convert them to cutting files.

Can you cut Bazzill paper? Yes vinyl? Yes cloth? Not cleanly plastic? acetate yes shrinky dink film no

Sorry it took so long to reply. Yes, the Silhouette can weld words and cut true font from your pc.
It also cut's 8.5x11.
Yes, you can use clip art and jpegs but the files have to be converted or recognized by the cutting software.
You can cut much of the papers, vinyl, cloth, and thin acetate. You need to adjust the cutting speed, blade depth and blade type when using various media. The Silhouette comes with three different blades. As far as cost. You can use inexpensive cutting mats from the dollar stores and cut them to size and use spray adhesive. What I love about the Silhouette is that I can create and cut my own designs. I did the Drippy Goo tonight and I like it. Couldn't find the punch so I created my own on my Silhouette and I can resize it any way I like.
