While looking through a quilting magazine yesterday, I saw a new product offered, called "Bobbin Bikinis". I took a good look at the ad, went to the bathroom closet, and found a batch of knit pony tail holders I bought hubby (yes, he has a quite long, very gray pony tail) that were too small. Guess what? They fit over my sewing machine bobbins nicely, keeping them from coming unraveled and unruly in my sewing box. The product was advertised at 30 for $2.25....I think I paid a dollar for a huge tube of these things in assorted sizes at the local Dollar Tree Store. You never know what will work..... And on that note, we have had trouble with my dear MIL experiencing some incontinence at night. We found a waterproof mattress cover, but could not find them for her pillows, even at the medical supply store. I have seen them in catalogs, but cant find a catalog right now. So, on a trip to the Dollar Tree Store, I picked up several white shower curtains (1.00 each), and cut pillow cases out of one and stitched them up on my machine. Out of 1 curtain I got 2 standard cases and 3 baby size pillow cases (she uses one between her knees). One of the other shower curtains I used to cover part of the top of the mattress and wrapped the side also, which the mattress cover did not protect. We shall see how they hold up, until I can get hold of a catalog that has the zippered type covers, they will have to do. Love that Dollar Tree Store!!!

Ya gotta luv that Dollar Tree Store. Where else can you get 100 secrutiy envelopes for only $1.00? Certainly not at Staples! I have very small hands and prefer a string mop. Most mop heads are just too big and heavy for me to handle. But the DT store sells a small one for just $1.00 and it is perfect for me. Cheap enough to toss out when they have served their purpose. And you don't have to struggle with replacing the mop head. (I hate the Swiffer products.)
We have a similar store for party supplies. It is not a chain store. And the prices for party stuff is ridiculously low. You might have ten guests and can only find eight matching plates. So you mix and match. Who says everything has to match?
My oldest son is a contractor and is always headed for Home Depot. There is a Dollar Tree right next door and quite often he will call me and ask if there is anything I need from there. Sometimes he will even swing by and pick me up. Drops me off at the DT to browse while he is busy at HD. We have a DT up on the North Shore of Boston. It is a big store. At the back, they have a meat section. And the prices are incredible.
