I have also been trying punchneedle and I have used floss for projects but depending on size of your needle hole you could also use pearl cotton in 12 or 8 I would think..Good Luck Nancy/PA

I have a punchneedle project that was given to me and they are using regular wool yarn the kind that you knit with (worsted weight), this is suppost to be a small rug, done with monks cloth.
I have used floss, baby yarn, and some DK weight yarns. It is up to the material and size you are working on. At least that is what the books have said.
good luck

There is a really great site about punchneedle, with terrific designs and links. It is at http://www.popgoestheneedle.com

I would love to try needlepunch since there are so many great patterns and kits on the markets. Do you know where classes are held for beginners in my area (Wappingers Falls, NY)? Thanks

It's really easy. I am working on my first one. I bought a kit for about $10 and the needle. The instructions are easy to read too. You may want to start there.

That's cool that its easy to learn. I have a small kit, but I have been nervous to open it because I've never done it before.

Thanks for the info!

I've had a kit for forever and never even opened it. I might have to bring it on vacation and give it a try!
