Hey! I'm working on making baby invitations for my soon-to-be sister-in-law and I've encounterd yet another problem but this one I'm not sure how to fix. I printed out all the contact information on vellum paper and the ink is wearing off. I can go out and get more paper but I'd rather not... So i have fixative for pastel, charcoal and pencil... I wonder if I could spray it over the vellum paper and hopefully the ink won't rub off? It's not really badly rubbing off but after doing about 50 invitations my fingers were tinted black. I'm just afraid that the cards might get ruined during transit! Any ideas/suggestions would be great!!Thanks! :)

Try a hair dryer to dry the ink. Won't take much, use a low setting. Try ONE with the fixative..cant hurt.

Actually the fixative seemed to work okay. my main problem was that the ink never really becomes "permanent" the fixative seemed to reduce it a lot though. So...yet another step added into these cards ahh... I am so busy between christmas gifts, baby invitations, 3 research papers, powerpoint presentations and taking care of my grandma I'M going loopy!! Hooray for caffeine!

I don't know, just thinking out loud.
Does your computer have a section that under printing ask what type of paper
you are using?
Perhaps there is something under printing that could use a different amount
of ink.
According how tranparent you want the paper, you could lightly sandpaper it.
You may want to check with a stationary printing company, if you have a number,
maybe off of a website and ask them.
Good luck.

There is an item here, called the Perfect Printing Pouch...but you have to rub it on your paper before you print on it. Feel like printing them all again? Sorry

Peace

The perfect printing pouch works great but uyou do have to rub the paper with it first.

Wonder if it would "set" with heat, as in ironing it - without steam of course.

They are all finished and my soon-to-be mother-in-law will be mailing them out tomorrow! I would have deffinately tried that printing pouch if I had known earlier.. oh well, they came out pretty good for getting 40 of them done in a weekend.

Domestic DIva-- I actually changed the settings to print them out quicker so that there wasn't excess ink on the page. Everytime I printed on the vellum at regular speed it would like SMUDGE immediately. I bet sandpaper would have worked, that's an interesting idea.

Thanks!
